No upcoming travel plans for us...yet. I'd like to go home to PDX for a few days, but not sure if it'll happen. I'd also like to take a slow road trip through the Midwest, Blue-Highways style.
Oh well done! If I had a partner, I would definitely screw up airline reservations so as never to be in charge again! Under the circumstances, my plan is to never go anywhere again that I can't get to in a car, preferably on, as Kevin says, blue highways.
if you can, fly into either LaGuardia or Kennedy--while Newark (EWR) is technically considered a NYC metro airport, it's a pain in the tuchis to get over to the City from there.
and I highly recommend the Ellis Island Museum as being one of the absolute best anywhere (it's my favorite)
for the best pastries, Ferrara's on Mulberry Street (in Lower Manhattan, not too far from Chinatown)
and the Empire State Building is a fun place for pictures--especially if the guy in the gorilla suit is on the observation deck
Oh Jen, this is gorgeous and hilarious and deeply triggering! LOL! I used to travel a lot, but just can't engage with the thought of making all of those kinds of arrangements any more!
Your trip will be fabulous, I know it will!
Loved this: 'It will be fine, I said to myself, allowing magical thinking to be the boss of me.' HA!

I love no-interstate road trips!
They’re the best! Every time I take one, I come away with a new revelation, perspective, etc.

We went on an epic road trip in 2021, and I’d love to do another!
Hahaha! I could see me doing that. Love your humor and your sweet partnership. 💕
🥰 Thank you!

send me a postcard!
I will definitely send you a post card! The Ellis Island Museum is great—I visited in the 90s.
Are you going to visit Garrison when you are there? You definitely should. He would love to see you.
Possibly!

"calendar jenga" - nice phrase. A really enjoyable post and as a recovering family holiday planner, this brought back lots of memories...
Thank you, Jeffrey!
Your story gives insight to Zugventures! Adventurous, indeed! :-)
