🤣 Wow, I needed a good laugh.

P.S. Your mother's handwriting looks very much like my mother's, which never varied until she was, like, 98 years old and couldn't see for shit.

Their handwriting was so consistent!

Perfectly encapsulates my connection to cleaning.

My house hasn't been deep cleaned since covid boredom and I choose not to worry about it. Hopefully toddlers will stay away (and yeah, fuck that mom!)

I get a deep cleaning bug about once a year, usually in the Fall after I’ve spent all summer playing outside.

I absolutely enjoyed your and Bryan's realness. It made me feel better about my own lack of organization. Love you all and hope you have an awesome Thanksgiving! ❤️

You too, Libby! Happy Thanksgiving!

We have constant EZ hair pillows swirling around our house - and it's never clean until we clean - and then it's only for a moment. Definately lowered my housecleaning bar when we brought home a puppy who is now 127 lbs, a Bernese Mountain Dog! We were told they "blow their coat" twice a year; I say that EZ blows his coat twice a year for six months at a time! Keep going strong JenZug and family! Love you all!

Do some people really sweep their kitchen every day????? Loved your article, now I don't feel so bad about my state of affairs :)

Yes, and they’re usually the same people who clean out their car every time they drive it!

Gorgeous commentary, Jen, in your wonderfully crisp syntax that cuts to the core, revealing honesty and healing truth. Thank you so much for my morning inspiration (dishes in the sink; still leaving ontime for a 30-minute drive to a meeting). Smiling this early eastcoast dawn. Thank you.

I love your attitude towards hospitality! I am to stress less about clutter, but my fear of being judged usually sends me into a cleaning panic. But I admire more laid back folks.

Oh and tanks for the repost!

My biggest takeaway from this: Your comfort level with a friend in your house's natural/comfortable state is great information about the state of the friendship. Can they come over any time and I will feel OK about it? Yes =. good friendship. If someone coming over means I'm going to stress about the state of my house, I maybe don't want to invite them. (I know; some people have to be invited. But maybe minimize those invitations?)
