I also wonder why they don't make keys anymore, so annoying! Glad Bryan was able to come get rescue you all!

Yeah, it does sometimes feel like we are the same. Didn't quite have that exact experience but definitely feels familiar. My energy to do something without thinking through the details and John's desire to hang back and relax which then turns into John rescuing me. Many variations on that theme. ha ha. You did get some amazing pictures though. Totally worth it. Never apologize for a good idea! Seems like it turned out fine. That is my version of all those stories. Turned out fine and I had a great experience. What was the problem?

LOL Yes, everything turned out fine. We also learned that small towns in northern Arizona don't have Uber or Lyft! And the "cab" is the buddy of a guy the hotel desk clerk knows!

I've rescued random travelers in a similar situation! Don't feel bad, it's not that rare

This weekend alone, I have:

1. spilled half a can of shellac in the sidewalk in front of the art center, and had to clean a whole tub of Very Sticky Art Supplies.

2. Left my phone in church. AND THEN on the only day when I am phone-less...

3. Was left behind by my parents in a Costco parking lot. (I went to return the cart; they drove away and didn't notice I wasn't in the car for 10 full minutes).

As far as travel misadventures, my sister and I once missed a train from Chicago to Grand Rapids, and the next train to GR wasn't until 24 hours later. After a brief meltdown in the train station, and several extremely unhelpful conversations with CTA staff, we finally found a kind one who told us he could not get us to GR, but he could easily get us to 20 minutes south of there. And that is the story of how we spent one day in Kalamazoo.

I also missed a ferry returning from Victoria once. I was alone, and my only local friend, exhausted from the hiking trip we had just returned from, had dropped me at the ferry, driven home, promptly turned off her phone and fell asleep. Victoria has no rideshare in city limits, and I literally stood crying at the gate of the ferry passenger entrance watching it pull away from the docks and trying to figure out what to do, how to find a hostel, and how to get there as the battery slowly died on my phone. An elderly couple out for a walk stopped and asked me if I needed help. They offered to take me home, in hopes that my friend would at some point turn her phone back on and come rescue me. She never did, apparently out for the night. So this lovely couple let me sleep in their guest room, fed me a nice dinner, and dropped me at the ferry next morning. As I was boarding the ferry my friend finally looked at her phone and called in a panic.

Hoping to pay this favor forward someday!
