I just picked up Everyone in my Family has killed someone! I look forward to reading it eventually. My TBR is LONG and if you're a subscriber of my blog you know I love to work on it. ... things, like deportations to Colombia are freaking me out... but I think that's the orange idiot's point and I don't want to give him the satisfaction, even if he doesn't know the little woman like myself. So eff him and everything he stands for. Change, I can deal with. Absurd play book rules he makes up as he goes along nope. I decided I'm not a victim of this crap and turned off my news for the next 4 years. It's worked so far. Haven't watched a single news show since the orange turd was 'elected'... which is a trifling joke in and of itself. Ugh, can you tell I this? Not My President... he just isn't....
Enjoy that pretty polish and hair curling! Looks like fun. ππ always a pleasure to read your stories. β₯οΈπ
Relating to not really knowing how to show up in the inbox. I think you struck just the right balance. Thanks for sharing your delights. They are...delightful. π
I am delighted by the sunny Seattle weather in January (it seems so different from last year), walk & talks with friends, and GAB II a writing group I am just loving.
Your opening is perfection. I have been sitting with what to write too. Before your post arrived this morning, I was sitting here with a blank Wordpress screen, completely lost. I may adapt yours. How to be outraged while continuing to live life and be happy? I'm at a bit of a loss. I hope their really is snow next week. I want to cocoon on my hill in a whiteout.
If we ere walking our dogs together, I'd talk you ear off about Adam Higginbotham's book "Challenger," which is an incredible deep dive into the space shuttle disaster and everything that led up to it. Then I'd prattle on about how excited I am that Garrett Graff has started a newsletter, work my way through some vague ramblings about gardening planning, and how I'm not sure how to feel about my oldest moving out this week. I'm proud of him, but it's weird.
omg your kid moving out makes ME so sad! I'm so sad for you! But also... happy? And I would totally talk about the Challenger book. David Epstein covered some of that territory in his book, Range, and it was so interesting!
This might be a comment more for Brian than for you, but: my wife also likes to collect earrings, and I got big praise last summer for finding a giant fabric earring organizer that she can hang on the wall in the bathroom, and just grab a pair. Rather than trying to dig through containers to see the match to the one earring she found that she wants to wear.
First, yes, you should definitely show off your sparkly nail polish! I just got a manicure and picked a color I didn't realize had sparkles in it and now I'm so distracted by it. I can't stop staring at my nails. Mesmerizing! Second, thank you SO MUCH for the shout out and kind words! I am so glad you enjoyed it!
Oh, various reasons, ranging from "I don't feel like it today" to the ripple effect of a toxic church situation that imploded and disbanded my entire community at the time. We're in a lovely, healthy church now, but still...sometimes I just don't feel like going.

*** can you tell I hate this???
I hope you like the book! I've avoided the news, too.
Reading this put a smile on my face. It was a delight to share your delights. Thank you for sharing
Thanks for reading!

Thank you for saying so. I feel so out of sorts!
I think everyone I know is. The ones I'm still talking regularly with, at least.
Fun read!

We got the snow! And thanks for your encouragement on my opener. I'm glad it set the right tone.
I relate to so much here! The current nail polish that's getting me through is Manicurist Active Shine jelly nail
Love it!
1. Started my garden planning too. 2. I must know more about the treasures in that notebook. 3. I need to embrace letterboxd

You are the greatest person of all time Jen Zug.

That sounds lovely!

Honestly, just curious, why is it that you donβt go to church often?
